Exploring the regulatory sandbox and ISO standards at GALA 2024

Victoria Powis, Client Solutions Manager at iDISC, will give a talk at GALA 2024 on April 22 about the testing environment that the Spanish government has created to test compliance with the upcoming European Artificial Intelligence Act, and about the recently published ISO standards to certify the application of this law in companies and organisations that use artificial intelligence in their processes.

The talk, entitled “Navigating the regulatory landscape for AI: European AI regulatory sandbox and ISOs”, will provide information on the status of the Spanish regulatory sandbox, the main objectives of the future European Artificial Intelligence Act, and how translation and localization activities fit into this law. In addition, the relationship between different ISOs that would certify the implementation of the requirements established in this law for a responsible use of artificial intelligence will be discussed.

This GALA (Globalisation and Localization Association) event, to be held in Valencia on 21-24 April, will bring together language service providers, industry clients, and academic experts under the theme of “Navigating the Rise of AI: Dos and Don'ts, Myths and Truths for a New AI-Assisted Localization Industry”. Through lectures, talks, and discussions, participants will debate the rise of artificial intelligence, its advantages and risks, and the myths and truths surrounding its use in the localization industry.

iDISC, as an expert in language services, international marketing, software development, and cybersecurity, will contribute to the reflections on the localization industry’s adaptation to an increasingly AI-assisted future and on the new regulatory frameworks that will guide this evolution.

National Security Framework (ENS) Medium-Level Certificate

iDISC and its continued commitment to quality

iDISC, a leading translation company in southern Europe, is proud to announce that it has obtained the Medium Level National Security Scheme (ENS) certification, proving its continued commitment to excellence and quality in its services. This certificate joins its renewed set of certifications, which confirm the company's experience, endorse its work processes, and reflect its firm commitment to guaranteeing the security of the information it manages.

The National Security Scheme (ENS) is a set of information security policies, standards, and measures applied in Spain, the main aim of which is to establish a reference framework to protect information in organizations, especially those related to the public sector. The main difference between the basic level ENS, which iDISC already held, and the medium level lies in the degree of complexity of security checks and protection of systems, equipment, or facilities.

The medium level ENS is required for certain public entities and organizations, which often handle sensitive or critical data. Similarly, private companies that provide their services to the public sector must prove that they meet the most rigorous requirements for information security management. In the case of iDISC, the scope of the medium level ENS certification includes language services, software development, and cybersecurity services.

This accreditation adds to iDISC's previous set of certifications, which includes ISO 17100 for Translation Services, ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 27001 for Information Security Management Systems, and the most recent ISO 18587 for Machine Translation Post-editing.

These certifications endorse the commitment to quality, information security, and efficient management of the services provided by the translation agency iDISC. They also reinforce the company's position as a benchmark in strengthening cybersecurity for companies and in protecting the data of its clients, who have the guarantee of working with an organization that meets the highest standards and is committed to offering its clients high-quality solutions that meet and exceed their expectations.
