Formatting Warnings

The following elements may cause incorrect results in computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, Machine translation (MT) and artificial intelligence (AI):

Content with structured code

To manage the translation of content in structured formats such as JSON or XML, it is essential to clearly define which parts of the document should be translated and which should remain untouched.

For example:

xpress_ex_code

Value fields should be translated, while other fields such as ID or Description should remain untranslated.

Content with images

Texts embedded in images cannot be automatically machine translated. This is because text in images may be an integral part of the graphic design, include technical terms or proper names that should not be changed, or simply because image editing can be complex and costly.

For example:

xpress_ex_img

In this case, the texts marked in red would not be automatically machine translated since they are part of the image.

Coding issues

Incorrect handling of text encoding can lead to character corruption. This occurs when text in a specific encoding format is incorrectly treated as if it were in another format.

For example:

xpress_ex_unicode

In such cases, special characters may appear as strange or illegible symbols due to incompatibility between formats.

Formatting issues requiring DTP

The design and layout of documents, especially those intended for print or digital distribution, can encounter formatting problems that require the intervention of a Desktop Publishing (DTP) specialist.

For example:

Fuente:

xpress_ex_dtp1

Before DTP:

xpress_ex_dtp2

After DTP:

xpress_ex_dtp3

DTP work involves adjusting and correcting these issues to ensure that the final document maintains a professional and consistent layout.
